Major League Baseball announced the 2026 Rawlings Gold Glove winners on Sunday night, November 1, honoring the best defensive player at each position in the American League and the National League, plus a utility winner in each league, for 20 winners in total. Nine of the 20 are first time winners. Bleacher Report published a complete list of all 20 that agrees with MLB Trade Rumors on every position in both leagues.
Winners were selected by managers, coaches and statistical analysis. Twenty five percent of the selection total came from the SABR Defensive Index metrics and 75 percent from votes by all 30 managers and up to six coaches from each team. The utility award was decided separately by a defensive formula calculated by SABR and Rawlings.

Boston and Arizona lead with three each
Boston had three winners, Durbin, Rafaela and Abreu, the most of any American League club. Durbin won in just his second MLB season and is the first Red Sox third baseman to win a Gold Glove since Frank Malzone in 1959. He finished tied for the league lead at his position in runs prevented, with five, and outs above average, with six. The Red Sox wrote on X: "A three-peat in right. Wilyer Abreu is a Gold Glove Award winner for the third year in a row!"
Rafaela won for the second straight year. He finished with 17 outs above average, second among MLB center fielders behind Crow-Armstrong, who had 26, and led all of MLB with 10 five star catches according to Statcast, plays with a 0 to 25 percent completion probability. Abreu won for the third straight year, in each of his first three major league seasons, and recorded 28 defensive runs saved in 2026 according to The Fielding Bible, the most among all MLB players.
Arizona also had three winners: Moreno, Perdomo and Carroll. Moreno hit .311 to win the National League batting title, and according to MLB he joins Joe Mauer as the only catchers in MLB history to win a batting title and a Gold Glove in the same season. Mauer did it in 2008 and 2009.
Dingler, McLean and a shutout for Toronto
Dingler won for the second year in a row, the first Tigers catcher to win in back to back seasons since Ivan Rodriguez won three straight from 2005 to 2007. He led all MLB catchers in Fielding Run Value in 2026 according to Statcast, with 17. McLean won in his rookie season and first full season. He posted plus 4 outs above average, converted 40 of his 43 defensive chances, and his 24 assists tied for the second most among National League pitchers. He is the first Mets pitcher to win a Gold Glove since Ron Darling in 1989.
Toronto was shut out despite five finalists, the most of any American League team: Brandon Valenzuela, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Andres Gimenez, Nathan Lukes and Jose Soriano all lost. Gold Glove winners are now eligible for the Platinum Glove, for the best overall fielder in each league. Those winners will be announced on November 6, and the Rookies of the Year will be announced on November 9.
