Editorial standards
How The Orbit Post reports the news, and what you can hold us to.
Accuracy first
Every story is verified against at least two independent, reputable outlets before publication. If a fact cannot be verified, it does not go on the page.
Original reporting, honestly labeled
Every article is written in our own words, never copied from another outlet. When we summarize other reporting, we name the outlet and link to it.
Sources
Each article ends with a Sources section naming the real publications its reporting is based on, with links, so you can check everything yourself.
Developing stories and updates
Big stories move. When we publish a developing story, the article says what is confirmed, what is still unconfirmed, and when it was last updated. Later developments are added to the same article in place, not published as a second article, and the timeline inside the story is corrected to match the reporting, with dates that match the body or a cited source. If an early report turns out to be wrong, the correction appears on the article itself.
How we choose what to cover
We cover what a reasonable reader would want to know today: major world and United States news, business and markets, technology, sport, and culture, plus a daily set of explainers and curiosity pieces in our Orbit Knowledge section. Utility pages such as gas prices, exchange rates, and gold and silver prices carry the source and the time of the data on the page, and figures are labeled delayed where the feed is delayed.
Corrections
We publish corrections promptly. If you spot an error, tell us at the contact address below and we will fix it and note the correction.
No invented facts
We never invent facts, quotes, numbers, or events. Developing stories are labeled as such, unconfirmed details are marked unconfirmed or omitted, and updates carry an Updated timestamp.
Images
Where a real, freely licensed photo of the actual subject exists, we publish it and credit the photographer. Otherwise we use an original AI-generated editorial image, chosen to fit the story honestly. We never publish a fabricated photo of a real person or a real event.
Advertising and independence
The Orbit Post is free to read and supported by advertising. Advertising never influences what we cover or how we cover it. No one outside the newsroom reviews a story before it publishes. Writers and editors do not accept gifts, payments, or free travel from the people and companies we cover. If a story touches an interest of the publication itself, that interest is stated in the story.
Complaints
Complaints about accuracy, fairness, or taste go to hello@theorbitpostnews.us. The editor reviews every complaint against the story and its sources. Where we fell short of the standards on this page, we correct the story and say what we changed.
