What we do
The Orbit Post is an independent daily news site covering world, business, technology, sports, and culture. It is founded and edited by Prabin Shrestha, who is responsible for everything we publish. Every story appears in English, Spanish, Nepali, Hindi, and French.
The five editions
Every story we publish appears in five editions: English, Spanish, Nepali, Hindi, and French. A reader who picks a language gets the whole story in that language, headlines, body, and timelines included, and the language switcher on every page leads to the same story in the chosen edition wherever that edition exists. We built it this way because our readers do not all read English first, and a half-translated story is not a finished story.
How we work
Our desks watch wire services, official statements, and verified reporting around the clock. Before a story goes up, its facts are checked against at least two independent, reputable outlets. When outlets disagree, we wait, or we say so in the story. Each article is written in our own words and links to its sources at the bottom of the page. Stories are updated in place when the facts move, with the update marked on the page. One story stays one story; we do not publish copies of our own articles under new headlines. The editor sets the standards and is responsible for everything that goes out.
Our standards
We write in original words only. We never copy sentences from other publications. We never invent facts, quotes, or numbers; if a detail cannot be verified, we leave it out.
What we will not do
We will not invent a quote, a number, or an event. We will not publish a photograph that pretends to show a real moment it does not show. We will not copy another publication's sentences and call them ours. And we will not let an advertiser, a sponsor, or a public official decide what counts as news here.
Corrections
Corrections: we publish corrections promptly. Tell us about any error.
AI disclosure
Articles are drafted with AI assistance and reviewed before publishing. For images, we use a real, freely licensed photo of the actual subject whenever one is available, credited to its photographer. When none exists, we use an original AI-generated editorial image. We never publish a fabricated photo of a real person or a real event.
