Updated 11:53 UTC, Oct 21, 2026. Tiger Shroff was not the shooters' original target, the Mumbai Crime Branch told news agency ANI. The three shooters had planned to attack another prominent Bollywood celebrity, but that person's security was so tight that they could not get close, and they turned to Shroff because they saw him as an easier target, the Crime Branch said, in remarks reported by Cinema Express on Oct. 21. Police did not name the celebrity they said was targeted first.

Four more people have been arrested in the case. The Delhi Police Special Cell arrested Kunal, Sumit, Radha and Babita for their alleged roles in moving a firearm and ammunition from Amritsar to Mumbai, Mirror Now reported, and police believe a minor took part in the final delivery of the weapons near a hotel in the city. Mirror Now also reported that the shooters watched Shroff's movements for about 10 days through social media before the attack, that seven bullet casings have been recovered, and that the Crime Branch is reviewing security for other film personalities. Latestly, citing Mid-Day reporting, said the accused had also surveyed the homes of Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar in Bandra and Juhu before the attack. Police have not confirmed that list in the statements reported so far. The three men held in Kota have been brought to Mumbai for questioning, Latestly reported.

Updated 07:05 UTC, Oct 19, 2026. Three suspected shooters in the firing at Tiger Shroff's car in Juhu were detained at Kota railway station in Rajasthan, in a joint operation by the Rajasthan Anti-Gangster Task Force and Kota City Police, sources told Sambad English. Livemint, citing an NDTV report, said the three were intercepted while travelling by train. Reports named two of the detained men as Hritik Kumar, 22, from Begusarai in Bihar, and Rehan, 18, from Sonipat in Haryana, and said a juvenile was among the three detained. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, speaking in Nagpur on Monday, said police had obtained leads on the attackers, that the accused were operating from outside Maharashtra and possibly from abroad, and that police would track down their handlers, Livemint reported. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde met Shroff after the arrests were reported. Police have not confirmed any gang link, and the detained men have not been charged in court reports so far.

Updated 05:43 UTC, Oct 19, 2026. Mumbai Police have registered a first information report against three unidentified accused over the firing at Tiger Shroff's car in Juhu, under sections 109(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act, the police told ANI, Bollywood Hungama reported. Police have formed 15 teams to trace the shooters and are examining CCTV footage and shell casings from the scene. Shroff's driver was injured by a bullet in his left hand and was stabilised at Nanavati Hospital, and an autorickshaw driver nearby was also injured, the Times of India and Mirror Now reported. Police said Shroff had no bullet injuries and only minor abrasions from shattered glass. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the actor at his home late on Sunday night.

Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff is safe and was not injured after a firing incident was reported in Mumbai's Juhu area on Sunday evening, Mumbai Police said. The police statement, carried by news agency ANI, said a firing incident had been reported under Juhu Police Station and that further investigation was under way.

Reports in several Indian outlets said three unidentified men on a motorcycle opened fire as Shroff was leaving a football ground near Pushpa Park in Juhu. Shroff escaped unhurt. News18, cited by Filmibeat, reported that his driver and an autorickshaw driver were injured in the firing. Police have not publicly confirmed the injury details in the statement carried by ANI.

Police investigation under way

Police teams rushed to the area after the firing was reported. Reports said officers cordoned off the area and were checking CCTV footage from streets nearby to identify the men and work out the route they took after leaving the scene.

The circumstances of the firing are still not known. Police have not named any suspects and have not said what the motive was. Shroff, known for action films such as Heropanti, Baaghi and War, had not issued a public statement by Sunday night.

Claim of responsibility is not verified

A social media post that surfaced after the incident claimed responsibility in the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. In the post, a man identifying himself as Anil Pandit said he and an associate, Harman Sandhu, were responsible, and he issued a warning to people in the film industry who work with actor Salman Khan.

Police have not verified that post. Daily Jagran and other outlets reporting the claim said officials had not confirmed its authenticity or any link between the post and the firing. The claim should be treated as unverified until police establish who was behind the attack.

Congress leader Sachin Sawant reacted on X, calling the news of a shooting at Shroff's car shocking and questioning law and order in Mumbai. He pointed to earlier attacks and threats involving people from the film industry.

Officers were still investigating on Sunday night. More detail is expected once Mumbai Police establish the sequence of events, identify the men on the motorcycle and confirm how many people, if any, were injured.
