Guam has its first election results of the 2026 cycle. Final unofficial results from the Guam Election Commission, with all 59 precincts counted, show Republicans Tony Ada and E.J. Calvo winning the race for governor and lieutenant governor, and Democrat Alicia Limtiaco winning the territory's nonvoting seat in the U.S. House.

The commission released the final unofficial count at about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, Guam time. The results are unofficial until the commission certifies them on November 19, after off-island ballots are counted.

Ada and Calvo flip Adelup

Ada, the Legislature's vice speaker, and Calvo, a businessman, received 15,945 votes, or 51.45 percent. Democrats Therese Terlaje and Sabina Perez received 14,925 votes, or 48.15 percent. The margin was 1,020 votes, about 3.3 points. The race stayed close for much of the night. With 21 of 59 precincts counted, Terlaje and Perez led by 80 votes, 5,243 to 5,163, before the later counts moved Ada and Calvo ahead for good.

Terlaje told supporters she had called Ada to concede, the Pacific Daily News reported. The win ends eight years of Democratic control of Adelup, the seat of Guam's government. Outgoing Governor Lou Leon Guerrero, a Democrat, was term-limited and could not run again. Her term ends in January 2027.

Limtiaco takes the delegate seat

Limtiaco, a former attorney general of Guam, held 15,645 votes, or 51 percent, against 14,983 votes, or 48.84 percent, for Republican incumbent James Moylan. The Wall Street Journal noted the result puts Democrats in position for the party's first flip of the cycle. The seat is a nonvoting delegate seat, so it does not count toward control of the House.

In the attorney general race, Phillip Tydingco beat incumbent Doug Moylan, the Pacific Daily News reported.

Republicans edge the Legislature

Voters also picked all 15 members of the Guam Legislature in a territorywide race. Republicans took eight of the top 15 places to seven for Democrats, giving Republicans a narrow majority in the incoming Legislature.

A total of 31,414 ballots were cast, or 53.11 percent of Guam's 59,146 registered voters, according to commission figures reported by the Pacific Daily News. Guam votes hours ahead of the U.S. mainland because of its position in the western Pacific, which is why its results arrived while most Americans were still voting on Tuesday.
