Apple unveiled a new 14-inch MacBook Pro and a new 24-inch iMac powered by its latest M6 chip on Tuesday, pitching faster performance for running AI tasks directly on the devices.

Reuters reported the launch at 13:39 UTC on October 27, 2026. MacRumors, reporting from Apple's announcement and its tech specs pages, published details of both machines the same morning.

The 14-inch MacBook Pro starts at $1,999. The iMac starts at $1,499. Customers can preorder both products from Wednesday, October 28, in 35 countries and regions including the United States, according to Reuters, with availability starting November 6.

The MacBook Pro

The M6 chip in the MacBook Pro has a 12-core CPU and a 12-core GPU, up from a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU in the M5 model, according to MacRumors. Apple said the machine delivers up to 30 percent faster graphics and up to 25 percent faster AI performance than its M5 predecessor, along with up to 24 hours of battery life, which Reuters said is the longest ever in a Mac.

The Neural Engine doubles to a dual 16-core system with 32 cores in total. Memory bandwidth rises to 170GB/s on the 24GB and 32GB configurations, while the base 16GB configuration stays at 153GB/s, according to Apple's tech specs as reported by MacRumors. The laptop adds Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 through Apple's N1 wireless chip, and it can drive two external 4K displays at up to 165Hz.

Pricing starts with 16GB of unified memory and 1TB of storage as standard. The machine comes in Space Black and Silver, with configurations up to 32GB of memory and 4TB of storage.

The iMac

The new iMac keeps the same design and 24-inch 4.5K Retina display as the previous model, with the same seven colors: blue, green, pink, yellow, purple, orange and silver. It has a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera.

Apple said the new iMac delivers up to 5 times faster on-device AI performance than the previous M4 model, according to Reuters. MacRumors reported that the iMac also gets the N1 chip with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, faster SSD speeds, and memory bandwidth up to 170GB/s, up from 120GB/s for the M4 chip.

The base iMac at $1,499 has a 10-core CPU, a 10-core GPU, 16GB of memory, 256GB of storage and two Thunderbolt 4 ports. A higher configuration at $1,699 has a 12-core CPU, a 12-core GPU and four Thunderbolt 4 ports. Memory tops out at 32GB and storage at 2TB.

What happens next

The launches come a day before Apple hosts its Pro and tell event in Los Angeles on October 28, which Bloomberg News has reported is expected to feature Apple's first touch-screen MacBook Pro, according to Reuters.

That event was announced on October 19. The M6 machines announced on Tuesday keep the current designs, while the October 28 event is expected to focus on the redesigned touchscreen models.
