Carlos Alcaraz of Spain beat Alex de Minaur of Australia 6-1, 6-4 on Sunday to win the men's singles title at the Erste Bank Open in Vienna, Austria. The final of the ATP 500 event was played on Centre Court, with Alcaraz seeded second and de Minaur seeded fifth.
The first set was one sided at 6-1. The second set was closer, and Alcaraz closed it 6-4 to finish the match in straight sets. He did not drop a set during the Vienna tournament.
A first title in Vienna
It is Alcaraz's first Vienna Open title. It is also his 28th ATP title in total, his fourth ATP title of 2026, and his third title at ATP 500 level in 2026.
The win extends a long run at this level of event. It was Alcaraz's 26th consecutive win at ATP 500 level, a run that goes back to the 2025 Barcelona Open final, where he lost to Holger Rune. Since that defeat in Barcelona, he has not lost a match at an ATP 500 tournament, and Vienna added another title to the run without a dropped set.
Seven meetings, seven Alcaraz wins
The final added to a one sided record between the two players. Alcaraz now leads de Minaur 7-0 in their head to head meetings, so Sunday's final was the seventh time he has beaten the Australian.
For de Minaur, the defeat also carried a first of a different kind. The loss was his first indoor hardcourt loss of 2026, ending his unbeaten run indoors this year in the last match of the Vienna week.
How they reached the final
Alcaraz beat Daniil Medvedev 6-4, 7-6(2) in his semifinal on Saturday, taking the second set tiebreak by seven points to two.
De Minaur had the longer road. He beat Alexander Zverev 6-4, 1-6, 7-6(4), winning the first set, dropping the second set heavily, and then taking the deciding tiebreak seven points to four to reach the final.
Sunday's final was shorter than either man's semifinal path suggested it might be, because Alcaraz took the first set by five games and then held his lead through the second.
De Minaur still holds the last Turin place
Defeat in the final did not cost de Minaur his place in the Race to Turin, at least on the numbers in the package from Vienna. Beaten in the final, he still holds the last qualifying place in the Race to Turin for the ATP Finals by a single point, on 3,210 points, ahead of Rafael Jodar.
That margin is one point, which leaves his position open heading into the next results. For Alcaraz, the week ends with a first Vienna trophy, a fourth title of the year, and a 26 match ATP 500 win streak still running.
