AC Milan beat Inter Milan 3-1 in the Derby della Madonnina at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, San Siro, on Saturday, October 31, 2026, in Serie A Matchday 10. It was Milan's fourth consecutive win in the derby, and it inflicted Inter's first Serie A defeat of the season.
All four goals came before halftime, and Diego Moreira had a hand in three of them for Milan.
Four goals in a frantic first half
Christian Pulisic opened the scoring in the fourth minute, heading in from six yards off a Diego Moreira cross. Adrien Rabiot doubled the lead in the 10th minute from a short Moreira corner routine, sweeping the ball in first time off the far post.
Alessandro Bastoni pulled a goal back for Inter in the 22nd minute, heading in from six yards after Manuel Akanji flicked on a corner. It was Bastoni's first Derby della Madonnina goal, and it put Inter back in the match for 21 minutes.
Moreira ended that spell in the 43rd minute. After providing the assists for the first two goals, he scored the third himself, curling a free kick over the wall into the near corner. There were no second-half goals. The scoring line ran Pulisic 4, Rabiot 10, Bastoni 22, Moreira 43.
The penalty that was not, and Maignan's wall
Inter thought they had a way back in the 75th minute, when a penalty was awarded for handball. VAR overturned it after the replay showed the Henrikh Mkhitaryan cross had hit Mario Gila on the chest.
What pressure Inter did build ran into Mike Maignan. The Milan goalkeeper made a series of saves to deny Inter, including a one-handed reaction save to keep out Djed Spence from close range.
Fourth straight derby, and a table that tightened
Inter came into the match unbeaten and sat on 25 points after nine matches, while Milan came in fifth on 18 points. The win took Milan up to fourth in the Serie A table, four points back of first-place Lazio.
The streak behind the result runs deeper than one night. Milan had won the last three competitive meetings with Inter without conceding a goal, and they are unbeaten against Inter since a 2-1 result in April 2024. Pulisic, who started the scoring, has now scored four goals in his past eight games against Inter.
It was the first Derby della Madonnina since the Stadio Meazza turned 100, with plans for the new Generali Stadium unveiled 48 hours earlier.
