AbbVie raised its annual profit forecast on Friday, October 30, after third quarter results topped Wall Street expectations, as booming sales of its newer immunology drugs made up for the decline in former top selling treatment Humira. Reuters reported that the company now expects a stronger full year than it had forecast before the quarter.

The drugmaker earned an adjusted profit of $3.82 per share in the third quarter, above the $3.75 per share analysts expected, on quarterly revenue of $17.40 billion, compared with an analyst estimate of $17.31 billion, according to LSEG data cited by Reuters. Zacks independently reported the same headline figures, putting AbbVie earnings at $3.82 per share against its own consensus estimate of $3.74, and revenues of $17.4 billion for the quarter ended September 2026. The two tallies agree on the beat: earnings seven to eight cents a share ahead, revenue about $90 million ahead of the Reuters cited estimate.

Immunology drugs carry the quarter

Skyrizi recorded sales of $5.78 billion in the quarter, growing 22.7 percent from a year earlier and beating Wall Street estimates of $5.75 billion. Rinvoq generated $2.71 billion in revenue, up nearly 24 percent year over year. Together the two immunology drugs brought in $8.49 billion in one quarter, and Reuters said that growth is what made up for the decline in Humira, once the company top selling treatment. Growth rates above 22 percent for both show the newer drugs expanding fast enough to cover the older product falling contribution, the shift the forecast raise rests on.

A higher forecast for the full year

AbbVie now expects annual adjusted profit of $13.95 to $13.99 per share, compared with its prior view of $13.76 to $13.96 per share. The new range includes a hit of 69 cents per share from acquired in process research and development and milestone expenses booked year to date through the third quarter. Even after absorbing that charge inside the range, the company lifted the bottom of its forecast by 19 cents and the top by three cents, a raise Reuters linked directly to the strength of the immunology business in the quarter just reported.

Neuroscience adds a second line of growth

The neuroscience portfolio also grew. Its revenue climbed 19 percent to $3.39 billion in the quarter, helped by Botox Therapeutic and the antipsychotic drug Vraylar, Reuters reported. On the pipeline side, the company $10.9 billion acquisition of Apogee Therapeutics in June adds experimental eczema and asthma treatments to its development pipeline. Both lines sit behind immunology in size, but both moved the same way in the period, one through sales growth and one through a completed acquisition.

Shares set a record before the results

AbbVie shares had risen about 27 percent so far this year and closed at a record high of $290.79 on Thursday, October 29, the day before the results. Investor's Business Daily reported that the shares dropped more than 2 percent in early trading on Friday after the results came out. That early move was an intraday reaction, not a closing price, and it followed a record close.

The quarter gives AbbVie a clear shape: immunology growth large enough to offset the Humira decline, neuroscience growing at 19 percent, and a full year forecast raised even after a 69 cent per share charge was counted inside it.
